An imposing modern building, the Excelsior Grand Hotel is in the centre of Sicily's second city Catania, less than two kilometres from the railway station and the port. The air conditioned guestrooms are decorated in traditional style, with contemporary touched. Colour schemes are in muted shades of gold or beige, with antique style furniture and chic modern fabrics. All have balconies, many with views over Mount Etna or the hotel's garden. Minibars, safes and satellite television and newspapers are provided in each room.
The hotel's American bar, l'Incontro, has live piano music every evening and is decorated with intricate marquetry and chic contemporary chairs and tables.
